Actor James Franco, here at the LACMA 2013 Art + Film Gala on Nov. 2, will star in "Of Mice and Men" this spring.
Academy Award nominee James Franco (“127 Hours”) and “Bridesmaids” star Chris O’Dowd will make their Broadway debuts this spring in John Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men.”
The revival will begin previews at Broadway’s Longacre Theatre March 19, 2014, with an opening night slated for April 16. The limited engagement production runs through July 27.
“Of Mice and Men” tells the tragic story of two migrant field workers searching for new job opportunities during the Great Depression. Franco will star as the canny George to O’Dowd’s mentally disabled Lennie.
Tony-winning director Anna D. Shapiro (“August: Osage County”) will direct, though no other members of the design team (or cast) have been announced yet.
This will be the first time “Of Mice and Men” has been seen on Broadway in 40 years.
