First Look at Jessie Mueller in “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical”

The life and work of singer-songwriter Carole King comes to Broadway in "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical,” which begins performances at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre Thursday, with an official opening scheduled for Jan. 12, 2014.

Playing King is Jessie Mueller, the Tony-nominated actor last seen on Broadway in “The Mystery of Edwin Drood.” She stars alongside “Degrassi” alum Jake Epstein, Anika Larsen and Jarrod Spector, who play King’s Brill Building collaborators Gerry Goffin, Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, respectively. Marc Bruni directs, with a book by Douglas McGrath.

Take a peek at highlights of the production, featuring hits like “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” (made famous by The Shirelles), “Natural Woman” and the title song “Beautiful.” Jessie Mueller sounds remarkably like Carole King, no?
