7 Rescued from Water in Central Park: FDNY

Seven young people were rescued from a pond in Central Park after they suddenly plunged through the ice on an unseasonably warm February holiday, authorities said. By the time FDNY arrived, most of them were pulled out of the water by two men who were skateboarding nearby.  The good Samaritans, Bennett Jonas and Ethan Turnbull, told reporters they were skating near the pond when they saw the kids dancing on top of the ice, then suddenly plunging into the water.  "I look over, I saw six heads just trying to get to the shore," said Jonas. "The back one was probably a good 20 yards from dry land."  Jonas dived in as Turnbull stood by to grab them.  "The last two at the end, the kid at the end was unconscious," said Turnbull. "[Jonas] got him out, he was kind of out of breath, and [Jonas] threw him to me. I just kind of minded him until he came to."  Jonas said the boy had been so far out in the water he wasn't sure he w

President Donald Trump has picked Army Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster to succeed Michael Flynn as his national security adviser, Trump said Monday. He made the announcement at Mar-a-Lago, flanked by McMaster and the acting adviser, retired Army Gen. Keith Kellogg. Kellogg will stay on as McMaster's chief of staff, Trump said. "He's a man of tremendous talent and tremendous experience," Trump said of McMaster. "He is highly respected by everybody in the military."
