With 50 trails and over 1,400 feet of vertical, it’s big mountain skiing close to home. Hit the cruisers and the terrain parks, grab a gourmet burger at the summit’s Sunset Grill, then cap the day with some après-ski at the Overlook Lodge’s poplar pub.
Sag Harbor, NY
The Hamptons are happening in summer, almost too happening. Beat the crowds by heading out over the Holidays. Sure, the water’s too cold for a swim and the lobster rolls might be out of season, but you can immerse yourself in the small town charms and artist communities minus all the commercial nonsense. Cure the kids’ cabin fever over the Holiday break with a trip down to CoCo Key Water Resort. This 55,000 square foot waterpark is completely indoors, meaning your plans are virtually weatherproof, while the kids are sure to love all the twists and turns of the four-story high slides. Book an overnight package, or hop in your Ford for the quick, 1.5 hour drive back to NYC.
