Time Warner Internet Service Mostly Restored in California

Time Warner Cable says the vast majority of its customers can access the Internet after Thursday night's problem.

"Engineers have deployed a restoration fix and the vast majority of customers are able to access the Internet," a company statement said.

The widespread failure of Time Warner Cable Internet service affected California customers for several hours. No details were released about what caused the outage.

Its unknown exactly when the service went down but word about the failure started spreading around 6 p.m. While the failure was in full swing NBCLA contacted Time Warner using a website chat feature. We were told the outage affected "almost everyone from California."

It appears television service was not affected.

In an e-mail to NBCLA Time Warner Cable spokesman Darryl Ryan said "we apologize for this intermittent service issue."
