Elisabetta Canalis Cut from “DWTS” on Week 2

Ciao Elisabetta.

Italian TV beauty Elisabetta Canalis became the second voted off “Dancing with the Stars,” her improvement on the ballroom unable to compensate for limited popularity with fans.

Canalis had landed two points below top-scoring Ricki Lake on the leaderboard Monday for a quickstep judge Carrie Ann Inaba said she’d “nailed.” One week earlier, the judges had scored George Clooney’s former squeeze as the second weakest hoofer.

When viewer votes were added to the mix this week Canalis fell behind actor David Arquette for the elimination, host Tom Bergeron noted.

“It was a great adventure,” Canalis said after learning she'd been cut. She thanked those who had voted for her and pro partner, Val Chmerkovskiy

Bergeron said they left on a high note.

Besides Arquette, Canalis' exit also won a reprieve for leaderboard laggards Carson Kressley, the “Queer Eye” host, and transgender activist Chaz Bono.

Bono, whose aching knees slowed his quickstep on Monday, vowed he could physically endure through the competition.

But he said that didn’t mean he wasn’t “completely nervous” about being voted off early.

Viewers also didn’t seem to hold HLN host Nancy Grace’s wardrobe malfunction against her.

Others advancing to next week include: new leaderboard leader Ricki Lake, Rob “better than Kim” Kardashian, wounded warrior-turned soap star J.R. Martinez, ex-“Hills” starlet Kristin Cavallari, singer Chynna Phillips and soccer uber-competitor Hope Solo.
