Rachel Zoe faces her toughest project yet – replacing her protégé.
“I love Rachel and she’s taught me everything I know,” Goreski told People. “But there’s a point where either I do it now or I’ll never know what it’s like to spread my wings and soar.”
Goreski, 33, who has helped dress Cameron Diaz, Johnny Weir and other celebrities for red carpet events, was feted as a men’s fashion icon in his own right in a New York Times profile earlier this month.
The piece described the often bow-tied Canadian native as a “zelig-like presence” at New York Fashion Week.
Goreski was promoted to style director at Rachel Zoe Inc. after his predecessor, Taylor Jacobson, got the ax ahead of “The Rachel Zoe Project’s” recently concluded third season.
Zoe said when Goreski told her of his exit plans a month ago the pair “couldn’t stop hugging and crying.”
“He did this with such class and elegance,” she told People. “And I get it. I just told him, ‘I’m here for you always.’”
