NBC's Tom Brokaw Discharged from Hospital

"All is well Early AM I mistakenly took a half dose of Ambien and made less sense than usual. Made a better comeback than Giants..." Brokaw tweets.

NBC News special correspondent Tom Brokaw is out of the hospital after having been evaluated for feeling "light-headed" earlier Thursday, the network said.

"After medical evaluation and a round of tests, Tom was pronounced in great health and has been discharged," NBC News President Steve Capus said in a statement. "We're immensely grateful to the team at Carolinas Medical Center for their excellent care and professionalism."

Brokaw was rushed to the Charlotte-area hospital Thursday morning after appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," and was later said by the network to be in "good spirits."

NBC News said Brokaw felt "light-headed" on the set of the news-talk program, which has been originating this week from Charlotte. He was taken to the hospital "out of an abundance of caution," the network said.

At about 10 a.m. Eastern, Brokaw posted on Twitter: "All is well Early AM I mistakenly took a half dose of Ambien and made less sense than usual. Made a better comeback than Giants..."

The 72-year-old Brokaw has been keeping a busy schedule of on-air appearances at the Republican National Convention last week and, this week, at the Democratic Convention.

He has served as special correspondent for NBC News since stepping down as anchor of "Nightly News" in 2004.
