The day after her puzzling performance on "Larry King Live,"   Carrie Prejean -- the Miss USA runner-up, ex-Miss California USA and one-time teen wank video princess, ahem, turned "author" -- was a no-show in D.C. Thursday.

Prejean, the 22-year-old beauty queen who, as We Love DC so hilariously put it, "created a situation in which Perez-freaking-Hilton had to be taken seriously" with her stance against same-sex marriage, is touring in support of her book, "Still Standing," but her D.C. visit got off to a slow start. Shortly before she was scheduled to speak at the Luce Policy Institute's Afternoon With an Author event at the Capitol Hill Club, organizers called attendees to alert them that Prejean had canceled. Which is probably best for the integrity of Luce's series.

She also canceled an interview with the Washington Times that was supposed to take place after the Capitol Hill Club hearing, POLITICO reported.

Maybe she was busy negotiating a deal for her next film.

Looks like more of the same Friday. POLITICO also reported their interview with Prejean has been postponed, and it's unknown if she even made it to D.C.

It begs the question: why would someone whose time in the spotlight has been so disastrous even bother to schedule these interviews in the first place? Anyone who's going to buy the book would have bought it anyway.

At least she's gathering plenty of material for a sequel.
