Even though fans of the original “Law & Order” are still reeling from its abrupt cancellation, the new California spin-off just booked one of its leading men.
Skeet Ulrich, formerly of the CBS post-apocalyptic drama “Jericho,” will play Rex Winters, a former Marine turned cop, as one of the central characters in “Law & Order: Los Angeles,” reports Entertainment Weekly.
According to the character's bio, Winters had his baptism by fire - literally - during the Rodney King riots in 1992, which greatly shaped his worldview. He operates from the assumption that people are good or bad and that the world is in a state of disarray. To further complicate matters, he’s married to his ex-partner.
Casting continues for the other roles, which will closely follow the format of the original show, with another lead detective, a police lieutenant, and assistant and deputy district attorneys rounding out the ensemble.
The new show will debut this fall on NBC.
