Lauren Conrad has a theory about why former bff cum frenemy, Heidi Pratt, posed for Playboy.
It involves Heidi's "hills."
"They're not going to pay for themselves," the ex-reality star told Harpers Bazaar, in a not-subtle-reference to Pratt's not-so-subtle bosom.
"Everyone makes those choices and wants to do different things," Conrad continued. "I just don't have any interest in showing my body in something like that. That's a little personal."
Conrad, 23, who starred in MTV's "Laguna Beach" and later "The Hills" alonside reality villians Heidi and Spencer Pratt, has quit television to pursue a career in fashion. While a trendy Los Angeles boutique dropped her first clothing line, her latest designs will be featured in Kohl's this Fall.
In the Harpers Bazaar interview, Conrad, aka L.C. said she wants her celebrity to stand for more than simple, fleeting fame.
"I don't call magazines and let them know about things so they can write stories," she said.
She said won't look back wistfully at such "Hills" requirements as having to wear underwear with elastic bands thick enough to hold a microphone, or the requirement that her dates sign a TV release form.
"There was never an incentive to keep doing The Hills so I could get into Les Deux," she said. "That was never the point. It was more to create a fan base so I can go create a business and do something I really love doing."
And she wouldn't don swine flu masks for attention like Speidi either.
"The face mask on vacation: I don't know if it was so funny because people really were being affected by that disease," Conrad said. "But otherwise (Heidi and Spencer) are very entertaining. You have to laugh."
