Yoko Ono: John Lennon Is Still Helping Me

Even after 30 years since his untimely death, John Lennon continues to play an important part in widow Yoko Ono’s life.

Ono said that the former Beatle is still helping her in her role as a peace activist and artist, The Associated Press reported. She is paying tribute to her late husband, as he would have turned 70 on Oct. 9.

She visited to Lennon’s native Liverpool, England on Friday where she met students at Dovedale School and then went to Lennon’s childhood home, where he lived from 1945 to 1963.

Ono is also scheduled to visit Iceland on Lennon’s birthday to light the memorial Imagine Peace Tower.

Lennon was shot to death on Dec. 8, 1980 in New York City. He was 40 years old.

In related Lennon news, the artist’s solo albums are being reissued on Oct. 5 to honor his 70th birthday, including “Imagine,” “Rock and Roll” and “Walls and Bridges.” The reissues are highlighted by a new stripped down version of the 1980 “Double Fantasy” album; a compilation “Power to the People”; and a 4-CD boxed set “Gimme Some Truth.”
