Oops, Lady Gaga did it again.

After dethroning President Obama last month to become the most popular living person on Facebook, Lady Gaga has now edged Britney Spears as the most-followed person on Twitter.

As of late Friday evening, Gaga boasted at least 5,677,803 followers on the microblogging service, compared to Spears’ 5,671,738.

Hours earlier, social media stats firm Famecount.com had projected the “Alejandro” singer to topple Spears’ reign of Twitter dominance.

Spears had knocked off long-time Twitterhead pack leader Ashton Kutcher just three months ago, according to the New York Daily News.

For Gaga, news of her latest Twitter milestone comes as the performer has found herself singled out for a handful of other recent accomplishments.

Besides holding the title for most “liked” person on Facebook, Gaga broke a record this month for most MTV Video Music Award nominations in a year, with 12.

"A long time ago, the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard. Together we changed the rules,” Gaga said in a statement at the time. “God put me on Earth for three reasons: to make loud music, gay videos and cause a damn raucous.”

Gaga also leads this year’s group of newcomers to Forbes’ most powerful celebrities list, with tours and corporate endorsements estimated to have netted the singer an estimated $62 million from June 2009 to June 2010, according to the magazine.

Her “Monster Ball” tour alone is expected to gross $200 million by the time it wraps up in April 2011, MTV News reported this week.

As for Gaga's Twitter reign, well it may be shortlived.

With Justin Bieber adding 800,000 follower a month, the teen pop star may be on track to knock Gaga from her No. 1 perch in the next six months, according to the Daily News.

Last month, Bieber's music video “Baby” featuring his mentor, Ludacris, overtook Gaga’s “Bad Romance” as the most-watched YouTube video with more than 246 million views.
