Britney Spears regained the spotlight this week on "Glee," but she hasn't yet wrested back control over her finances and life decisions.

The pop star will remain under a court-imposed conservatorship for the time being, a judge said Thursday after conducting separate closed-door sessions with the singer and her father.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Reva A. Goetz described her in-chambers talk with Spears as a "very nice conversation," but did not elaborate on the contents or on whether the conservatorship might end soon.

Lawyers for the 28-year-old singer and her father, Jamie Spears, declined to comment after the hearing.

Spears arrived at the downtown courthouse about 9 a.m. through a side door and left the same way less than an hour later. However, Goetz continued talking in chambers with the lawyers after the singer departed.

Jamie Spears and attorney Andrew Wallet are co-conservators of the pop star's estate. The conservatorship was established after the singer exhibited bizarre behavior in early 2008 and was twice placed in involuntary psychiatric treatment.

But Spears' lawyers have said her mental health has improved dramatically since then.

The "Toxic" singer went on a concert tour last year.

Earlier this week, Spears made a cameo on "Glee," with a handful of her songs also feted on the Fox hit.

The judge's announcement means her father and Wallet will remain in control of Spears' finances.
