Hollywood power duo Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are known to give generous donations in the wake of natural disasters. But this time around, it hits home for Brad.

Pitt and Jolie donated $500,000 towards Tornado relief in Joplin, Missouri, Pitt's native state, Us Magazine reported.

"With the devastating loss of thirty percent of the city, the Joplin community faces great challenges ahead," Pitt, 47, said according to the Community Foundation of the Ozarks website. "Having spent much of my childhood there, I know these people to be hardworking, humble and especially resilient."

Jolie, 36, added: "Our hearts go out to the families in Joplin."

The tornado ripped through Joplin on May 22, severely devastating the town and killing 151. The Community Foundation of the Ozarks will benefit the Joplin Recovery fund, which go towards rebuilding efforts.
