This High School Junior Wore a Minion Dress to Her Homecoming Dance and Totally “Felt Like a Princess”

Something tells us Gru is totally going to approve of this look.

For many high school students, the homecoming dance is the perfect chance to pick up that designer dress they've always wanted. Perhaps mom and dad will even splurge with a few accessories and beauty routine.

But for Crescenta Valley High School junior Daisy Maddox, she didn't want to dress like everyone else. Instead, she was willing to follow her friend's dare to recreate a memorable look from Despicable Me.

Just last month, close friend Ally Miller shared a message where Daisy promised to wear a "minion costume tutu dress" to the dance if she received 15,000 retweets on social media. 20,000 retweets later and the $39.67 dress designed for kids ages three to eight was all hers.

"If I'm being completely honest, I was extremely nervous the day of homecoming," Daisy told E! News after her weekend dance. "However, my close friends all told me I was so brave for wearing the minion dress and said I would end up having a great time."

She continued, "Luckily, they were right. The dance turned out to be amazing and everyone loved my outfit."

In several pictures posted on social media, Daisy proved that the unconventional homecoming look was a hit. In fact, the dress made her feel confident for the night out.

"Homecoming made me feel like a princess," she wrote on Twitter.

While there's still plenty of time to prepare for the next dance, Daisy is already feeling the pressure to wow the class once again with her next look.

"Yes, I do have a few ideas planned for next year's homecoming and maybe prom," she teased to E! News. "However I have decided to keep them a surprise for now!"
