Chris Brown Facing Allegations of Battery, Theft in Las Vegas

Las Vegas police are investigating allegations of battery and theft against R&B singer Chris Brown.

According to police, a confrontation ensued in a room at the Palms Casino Resort when a woman tried to take a cellphone picture of Brown, 26, around 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities said the woman suffered minor injuries, apparently "as a result of battery." Brown allegedly took the woman's cellphone as the singer's private security escorted her out.

Police said hotel security became involved when the argument spilled into the hallway. The woman was led off the property but returned shortly after to report what had happened.

Detectives tried to contact Brown but were not allowed into his room and learned he had left the hotel before they arrived, according to police.

Brown's attorney and publicist did not immediately return messages seeking comment.

Police said Saturday evening they had not been able to reach Brown, who is considered a suspect in a misdemeanor battery and theft. He has not been arrested.

Brown was freed from felony probation last year, more than six years after he attacked then-girlfriend Rihanna. The singer pleaded guilty to felony assault in that case.
