What Michelle Obama Is Planning Once She Leaves the White House

There are a few things First Lady Michelle Obama says she can’t wait to do once she leaves the White House in 2016.

She sat down with “Late Show” host, Stephen Colbert, on Tuesday and laid out her bucket list.

“I’d like to open a window,” she said.

She said she can’t open her windows at home or in the car because of heavy security. She told Colbert if she ever opens the car window, the agents who accompany her usually jump up.

“We’ll get you a canister of fresh air,” Colbert said.

She said an agent once treated her to an open car window when she was on her way from Camp David — for a whole five minutes.

Among the other things she hopes to do: shop at Target and drive a car.

Mrs. Obama also spoke about her campaign, 62 Million Girls, an initiative to help educate girls here at home and around the world.

“We are working and leveraging resources in developing countries to make sure girls have opportunities,” she told Colbert.

She encouraged people to tweet what they’ve learned in school with the hashtag #62MillionGirls.

Before closing out the interview, Colbert turned the conversation to the current election, and what could come once she hands over the reins to her successor.

“Without naming names, if we have a female president next, would you leave a letter for her husband?” Colbert asked. Mrs. Obama said she had received a letter for former first lady Laura Bush when she took over the position.

“What’s the most important thing he needs to know about the job?” he asked.

“I would say, follow your passion,” she said, pointing into the camera. “Just be you.”
