Melania Trump: Donald Trump's Worst Habit is Retweeting

Trump has appeared to have toned down his Twitter use since re-shuffling his campaign and bringing in more experienced operatives in recent weeks

Melania Trump says there's one habit she wishes her husband Donald Trump would give up: "Retweeting."

The wife of the Republican presidential front-runner offered the response while speaking on NBC's "Today" show ahead of a town hall event taking place in midtown Manhattan.

Melania Trump has taken issue with her husband's Twitter use before. She told CNN's Anderson Cooper recently that she's tried to rein it in, with little success.

"Anderson, if he would only listen. I do say it many times," she said then.

Trump has long described his social media following — nearly eight million strong — as an asset that gives him the power to broadcast his own message.

But it's also gotten him in trouble.

Trump has appeared to have toned down his Twitter use since re-shuffling his campaign and bringing in more experienced operatives in recent weeks.

Trump's children Donald Jr., Eric, Ivanka and Tiffany were also on hand to give a glimpse into the life of the "empathetic" grandfather. Noting Trump's intense personality on the campaign trail, "Today" show host Matt Lauer asked what makes their father emotional.

"When is the last time you saw him cry?" Lauer asked.

"Well, I don't know that we've seen him cry all that often, Matt," Donald Jr., 38, joked. "But, when you see him around the family table, the sense of humor, the love, playing golf with my 20-month-old, like teaching her how to swing a golf club, it's a special moment. It's a totally different side that no one really gets to see."

"He has tremendous empathy," Ivanka, 34, added. "My whole life, I've watched as he's ripped stories out of newspapers that he's read about something that's happened to somebody or adversity that somebody's being faced with — often put in a situation where they don't have the power to effect change and they were unfairly put there — And he'll actually proactively reach out to that person, bring them into the office, and help them."

Ivanka, Donald Jr. and Eric, 31, are Trump's children from his first marriage to Ivana Trump. After divorcing in 1992, he married beauty queen Marla Maples in 1993, with whom he had daughter Tiffany, 21.

In an interview with People in October 2015, Trump said he prided himself on being a good father and protective of his children.

"He's been protecting us from the public eye for a long time," Eric told the magazine. "We never made the tabloids when we were younger. He was the man that, his whole life, he's always had thousands of cameras on him and yet we were raised as normal kids, or at least as normal as you could be raised under the circumstances."
