Jason Brown Poses for Ponytail Closeup

Jason Brown, the pony-tailed men's figure skater, has acknowledged the star power of his hair with a confident back-of-the-head photo.

NBC Olympics tweeted a close-up of Brown, pointing both index fingers at his devil-dog-sized ponytail, tied tighly at the back of his carefully shaven neck.

"And @2014PonyPower showed up too!" the tweet said, followed by the hashtag #PonytailPower, a reference to a Twitter fan page of sorts that gained attention after Brown's U.S. Nationals performance introduced both Brown and his hair to the world.

Since then, the account, identified as "Jason Brown's Ponytail," has tweeted photos and commentary about Brown and his hair, defending it against fellow tweeters who express their desire to cut it off.

"don't you dare," PonyPower tweeted in response to one such threat.

The "selfie" actually taken by someone else, leaves little doubt that Brown is aware of the fascination surrounding his locks.

The 19-year-old Chicago-area skater finished 9th Friday in the men's individual skating competition. He has his own Twitter account, @JasonBSkates, which identifies him as "just a kid who loves to skate ... and happens to have a ponytail!"
