Drake Tops 2013 BET Award Nominations; Chris Brown, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z Also in the Mix

The 2013 BET Awards took care to nominate Drake--a lot.

The "HYFR" rapper leads the field from afar with 12 nominations, including five for Video of the Year, four for Best Collaboration and a nod for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, for which he'll square off against Kendrick Lamar, Future, A$AP Rocky and 2 Chainz.

And while the trophies won't be handed out until June 30 at L.A.'s Nokia Theatre, the night is already shaping up to be interesting...

Drake's partner in cryptic feuding, Chris Brown, only scored one nomination--for Best Male R&B Artist--but he is already one of the event's first scheduled performers, along with R. Kelly.

And the damsel they've enjoyed verbally sparring over, Rihanna, is the top nomination-getter among the ladies with three: Best Female R&B Artist, Video of the Year and Coca-Cola Viewers Choice Award, the latter two both for "Diamonds.

Distant seconds to Drake, meanwhile, are Lamar and 2 Chainz with eight, followed by A$AP Rocky with five and four-timers Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z and Miguel.

Grammy darling Frank Ocean came up empty, though the seeming diss could be because he doesn't really play to the music-video crowd (and the T in BET does stand for Television).

This past Oscar season also trickled into the movie categories, which saw nominations for Kerry Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Foxx, Django Unchained, Denzel Washington, Quvenzhan Wallis and Beasts of the Southern Wild.

Charlie Wilson will receive a lifetime achievement award.
