Charges Dropped Against Rapper Trick Daddy in 2014 Gun, Cocaine Arrest

Charges were dropped Thursday against Miami rapper Trick Daddy in his April 2014 cocaine and firearm arrest.

Trick Daddy, whose real name is Maurice Young, had been charged with cocaine possession and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after he was arrested by Broward Sheriff's Office deputies at his Miramar home.

According to the affidavit, the Broward County Drug Task Force had a "sniff warrant" to search the home and stopped Young as he was leaving in his car.

When deputies searched the home, they found 1g of powder that field tested positive for cocaine, the affidavit said. A 9mm Sig Sauer and a box of ammunition were also found in the home, the affidavit said.

The 40-year-old rapper is best known for his 2001 hit "I'm a Thug." He's released eight records, including his 1997 debut, Based on a True Story, and has collaborated with several artists including Pitbull, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Cee Lo Green and Ludacris.
