‘Spider-Man’ Series Picks Up Another Pulitzer Winner

A Pulitzer Prize winner will scribe “Spider-Man 4,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Playwright David Lindsay-Abaire, who won the prestigious honor for 2007’s “Rabbit Hole,” is reportedly in final negotiations to write the latest installment in the superhero franchise. He joins some illustrious company — Michael Chabon, who co-wrote “Spider-Man 2,” won the Pulitzer Prize in 2001 for his novel, “The Amazing Adventures Of Kavalier & Clay.”

Director Sam Raimi and star Tobey Maguire have signed on for the fourth “Spider-Man” film, and Kristen Dunst is expected back as Mary-Jane.

James Vanderbilt reportedly has written a draft of the film. According to the Los Angeles Times, “Spider-Man 4” is prepping for a May 2011 launch.

But before he gets to superheroes, Lindsay-Abaire has an ogre in the way — he is reportedly current writing the book and lyrics for the Broadway musical adaptation of “Shrek.”
