Sandra: “Yes, I have Filed For Divorce”

Oscar winner also reveals to People she's adopted baby from New Orleans

Oscar-winning Hollywood sweetheart Sandra Bullock has confirmed she is dumping her biker hubby Jesse James, following a cheating scandal that grew more sordid with every tabloid revelation.

"Yes, I have filed for divorce," the 45-year-old actress told People magazine in its latest issue. "I'm sad and I'm scared."

A rep for Bullock confirmed to the magazine the "Blind Side" star filed legal papers seeking to end the five-year marriage, but did not say where they were filed.

The magazine also reported that Bullock has adopted a three-and-a-half-month-old son named Louis, who was born in New Orleans.

The painful scandal began to unfold during what should have been Bullock's proudest moment. Stripper Michelle "Bombshell" McGee came forward in March to say she had an 11-month affair with James even as Bullock was filming "The Blind Side." The news came just days after Bullock won her first Oscar for her true-life role as a hard-charging Tennessee woman who adopted a homeless African-American kid who went on to become an NFL star.

James was with her at the Academy Awards on March 7, but the pair parted in the coming days as the scandal erupted. Since the first stories of James' alleged dalliance with McGee, three more women have come forward to say they had affairs with James. At least two have provided steamy text messages they say back up their claims.

Bullock told People she was caught totally by surprise and that her first thought was to pack bags and whisk Louis out of the house "before the vultures descend."

James, the heavily tattooed television personality and owner of West Cast Choppers, publicly apologized to Bullock March 19 and spent 30 days in a treatment facility that specializes in sex addiction where he sought help for "personal issues."

James released a statement to the magazine saying the bitter breakup has left a "huge hole" in his heart, but indicating he will not fight the divorce.

“The decision to let my wife end our marriage, and continue the adoption of Louis on her own, has been the hardest” of his life, he said. “Sandy is the love of my life, but considering the pain and devastation I have caused her, it would be selfish to not let her go.”

Bullock and James had begun the process of adopting Louis several months before the split, and Bullock indicated to People that he may have a role in the boy's life.

“I really don’t know how our paths will intersect in the future, but that father I have known Jesse to be … is one that I hope Louis can experience one day, no matter how Jesse and I go on with our lives,” she said.
