Warner Bros. has ended its months-long search for the lead role for its next DC Comics inspired movie.
Reynolds entered into negotiations on Friday and hopes to hammer out a deal.
Reynolds was chosen to wear the power ring after the studio held two rounds of screen tests with Jared Leto, Bradley Cooper and even Justin Timberlake. The lengthy decision came after director Martin Campbell and producer Donald De Line and the studio each had their favorites among the four finalists.
Reynolds isn't new to the fan boy circuit. He most recently played Deathpool in "X-Men Originals: Wolverine" and vampire hunter Hannibal King in Marvel's "Blade Trinity."
If the deal is reached, Reynolds could be battling himself at the box office. Reynolds was also chosen to play "The Flash" a few years back and both movies are scheduled to hit theaters in 2011 reports the New York Daily News.
