Nancy Kerrigan's Brother Out on Bail

Family says patriarch died from pre-existing heart condition

The brother of figure skater Nancy Kerrigan is home at his mother's house in Massachusetts, after his family posted $10,000 bail Wednesday morning.

Mark Kerrigan, 45, is facing assault charges stemming from a Jan. 24 fight with their father, who died as a result. The kerrigan family says Daniel Kerrigan, 70, died because of heart problems that pre-dated the angry spat with his son.

Mark Kerrigan was released from Bridgewater State Hospital on Tuesday and was returned to the county jail for the night. Woburn District Court officials told People magazine that the bail was posted Wednesday morning. As part of the conditions of his bail, Kerrigan must wear a GPS bracelet, submit to alcohol and drug screening and get mental health counseling.

"The Kerrigan family is delighted to have Mark back with them," Kerrigan Family spokesperson Nancy Sterling said in a statement Wednesday morning. "They ask that you respect their privacy as they welcome Mark home."
