Reality TV star and Poison frontman Bret Michaels remains under 24-hour surveillance in a hospital intensive care unit following his massive brain hemorrhage, according to a message cross-posted on his official Facebook page and fan website.
The message, originally posted Sunday afternoon, said tests this week will help locate the source of the bleeding and that “an official medical report” would then be published on Bretmichaels.com
“Once again we can't thank everyone enough for all the well wishes and prayers being sent Bret's way!” the message read. “Please remember Bret is, and always has been, a fighter and survivor and is under the best medical care possible.”
Michaels, who recently underwent emergency surgery to remove his appendix, suffered an "excruciating headache" Thursday and was rushed to a hospital where it was discovered he was bleeding at the base of his brain, his publicist, Joann Mignano, confirmed to People.
A note posted to Michaels' Facebook page on Saturday read: "There are several incorrect reports on Bret's condition. Bret remains in critical condition at an undisclosed location. Further tests are being ran and information will be updated in the coming days."
Michaels, 47, had to cancel tour dates after undergoing appendectomy surgery on April 12 in Texas. People reported that it is unclear if that procedure -- or his diabetes -- had anything to do with the hemorrhage.
The "Rock of Love" reality star who has been competing on NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” this season, seemed to be recovering well from the surgery at a rehab facility that specializes in diabetics.
Donald Trump, who hosts "Apprentice," offered his best wishes to Michaels, TMZ reported.
"I am deeply saddened to hear about Bret Michaels and my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family at this time," Trump said in a statement. "He's a great competitor and champion and I hope he will be fine."
