Giffin O'Neal Gets 16-Month Prison Sentence for DUI Crash

The son of Ryan O'Neal has been in trouble with the law before

Griffin O'Neal, the eldest son of Ryan O'Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett was taken into custody Friday afternoon, according to San Diego courthouse spokesperson Karen Dalton.

The 47-year-old was sentenced to 16 months in prison for a DUI crash last summer that injured the driver of a van he hit when his car veered into oncoming traffic. Cops at the scene found a loaded gun, a shotgun and ammunition in his car. In November, O'Neal pleaded guilty to drug and weapons charges related to the crash.

His sentencing, originally slated for Jan.12 had to be rescheduled after he failed to show. The judge issued a bench warrant, which he later rescinded after hearing O'Neal had been bailed out and checked into rehab.

It wasn't the first time the 47-year-old had been in trouble with the law. In 1992, according to E! Online, he was arrested for harassing an ex-girlfriend, in 1987 he received probation for his involvement in a deadly boating accident, and on New Year's Eve, he was arrested at his home on suspicion of domestic violence.
