Bret Michaels Headed Home After Heart Surgery

Poison frontman and reality star Bret Michaels was released from a Phoenix hospital Wednesday, two days after undergoing surgery to close a hole in his heart.

"Bret's procedure had excellent results," St. Joseph's Hospital cardiologist Dr. Mansour Assar told entertainment news outlets in a statement. "Because of the successful outcome and Bret's determination, I believe he will be able to return to normal activity within weeks."

The newly-engaged “Celebrity Apprentice” winner was said to be recovering at his Scottsdale, Ariz. home with his family, according to People mag.

Last month, Michaels proposed to his girlfriend of 16 years, Kristi Gibson, on the finale of his VH1 reality show "Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It."

Doctors reportedly discovered the hole in Michaels’ heart back in April when he was getting treatment for a brain hemorrhage.
