Lindsay Lohan Was Bullied in High School for Movie Roles, Troubled Home Life

Lindsay Lohan encountered some real life mean girls (and boys!) when she was growing up.

Inspired by Katie Couric's discussion with bullied 16-year-old Whitney Kropp, Lohan took to Twitter to reveal her own traumatic high school experience. (Kropp was elected homecoming queen of her school as a joke, but her community rallied to embrace and empower her in the role.)

"I was actually bullied @ my public school when i would leave to film," Lohan, 26, wrote. "Whenever I came back... girls &boys would call me names."

"They would also mock me because of my home situation," she added. "When people found out that my father was in jail...they would yell things, try to trip me &more...I moved to home-schooling instead. In 11th grade. I stuck it out for a while."

"So I can relate to the girls that you spoke with on your show today," she tweeted to Katie Couric. "I appreciate you reaching out to them. xo"

Couric gave Kropp a trip to Disney World on Tuesday's show, which Lohan thought "was lovely."

The Katie episode "had me crying," tweeted Lohan. "I'd love to meet [Whitney]. #stopbullying"
