Kardashian Clan Made $65M Last Year: Report

No one knows exactly what it is they do, but the Kardashian ladies earned a whopping $65 million last year, according to a report.

Five pretty girls and a hard-driving matriarch with a nose for publicity have turned into a money-making machine since the family burst onto the scene four years ago. Before that, they were always on the fringes of fame. There is mom Kris Jenner married first to O.J. Simpson lawyer Robert Kardashian, then former Olympic star Bruce Jenner, daughter Kim, who was just Paris Hilton's BFF until a sex tape turned her into a Google search superstar, and all the siblings who followed them into the spotlight.

Between their endorsements, perfumes, reality shows, a book, paid appearances and all of manager mom Kris'; myriad schemes, the family pulled in $65 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Critics may wonder what redeeming value her family brings to market, but the article notes that under Kris Kardashian's guidance, the family had a very good year when the rest of the economy didn't.

"Look at Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg," says Kris’ longtime pal Scott Sassa, president of Hearst Entertainment and Syndication. “Two guys that didn’t finish college ended up billionaires. Sometimes just raw energy and intelligence wins out.”

The article notes that Kris Jenner was a "socially ambitious" stewardess when she met her first husband, who died a few years after they split. A year later, she married Jenner and quickly got him off the gold course and out pitching exercise equipment.Years later, when she had worked her way up to the verge of a family reality show, it was almost scuttled by the emergence of Kim's sex tape. Somehow, she made it all work.

"My mother has just always been this ‘Let’s make water into wine’ person," Khloe Kadashian, who is married to NBA star Lamar Odom, said.
