J.Lo and Marc Anthony to Divorce

"It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time”

It's over. Celebrity power couple Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony announced they are calling it quits after seven years of marriage.

“We have decided to end our marriage,” they said in a statement to news outlets on Friday. “This was a very difficult decision."

Lopez and Anthony did not spell out why they they were breaking up. But the parents of 3-year-old twins said they had come to an "amicable conclusion on all matters" and appealed for privacy.

"It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time,” they said.

This will reportedly be the third divorce for Lopez and Anthony’s second.

Lopez -- the Bronx-born actress, singer and "American Idol" judge – was previously married in 1997 to restaurateur Ojani Noa and in 2001 to back up dancer Cris Judd, Us reported. Each marriage lasted a year.

Anthony was married to former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres in 2000, though the pair split less than two years later, according to Access Hollywood.

In June 2004, Lopez and Anthony wed at their home in Beverly Hills, just days after the Latin pop star's divorce from Torres became official.

No word on how Lopez and Anthony's breakup will affect the status of the new Latin American talent competition they're producing together. It's also unclear who will take custody of their twins, Max and Emme.

People magazine first reported news of the split.
