The bar that helped launch Bruce Springsteen's career is grounded for at least a month.
The Stone Pony in Asbury Park is closing temporarily for roof maintenance and repair.
The city's director of code enforcement tells the Asbury Park Press of Neptune that the club's owners reported severe roof leaks and closed the club voluntarily to do the necessary repairs.
Shows scheduled for the historic club over the next month have been relocated or postponed.
Springsteen grew up in nearby Freehold and performed regularly at the Stone Pony in the 1970s. He has dropped by the club unannounced in recent years for impromptu performances.
