Jennifer Lopez: Don't Worry About Traffic Near My Bronx Show

Jennifer Lopez says Bronx residents fretting about traffic near her upcoming free concert in her home borough this week shouldn't be concerned.

"Our crowd is not as big as the July 4 crowd, so don't worry. Our crowd is not as big as the Memorial Day crowd," she said at a charity event in New York. "It's going to be awesome, you know, coming back to the Bronx and doing a concert for free for the neighborhood that raised me."

Lopez spoke to reporters Sunday, days ahead of the show on Wednesday in Pelham Bay Park. Some 25,000 people are expected to attend, and in neighboring City Island, residents are complaining that traffic will jam up City Island Road, the only way onto the island.

“The congestion is bad enough as is right now,” one resident said last week. “Imagine with J. Lo there. It’s not fair.”

The NYPD says one lane of traffic on City Island Road will be used for concertgoers. Fans will also be able to get to the venue on another road. More than 100 officers will also be out at ticket checkpoints.

Concertgoers were able to request free tickets to the concert online beforehand, but all the tickets have been claimed.
