Alex Brightman (“Big Fish”) and Sierra Boggess (“It Shoulda Been You”) will lead the cast of “School of Rock—The Musical,” Andrew Lloyd Webber and Glenn Slater’s musical adaption of the hit 2003 film.

Brightman will play Dewey Finn — the role created on screen by Jack Black. Finn’s a down-on-his-luck musician who ends up transforming a classroom of prep school fifth-graders into a rock band.

Boggess, who previous worked with Webber in the West End production of “Phantom of the Opera” and its sequel “Love Never Dies,” will take on the role of Rosalie Mullins, the uptight school principal with a secret wild side. Joan Cusack played Mullins on screen.

“School of Rock” begins previews Nov. 9 at Broadway’s Winter Garden Theatre, with an opening night set for Dec. 6.

The show was recently workshopped at New York’s Gramercy Theatre, tickets for which were open to members of the public.

This will be the first new Broadway musical for Webber since 2005’s “The Woman in White.” Slater previous wrote the lyrics for the stage transfers of “Leap of Faith,” “Sister Act” and “The Little Mermaid.”

Oscar-winner Julian Fellowes (“Gosford Park”) will pen the book for the musical. He’s also the creator of the PBS hit “Downton Abbey,” and provided the book for the stage version of “Mary Poppins.”

Laurence Connor, currently represented on Broadway by “Les Miserables,” will direct.

Tickets, which are now on sale, can be purchased at
