Use Your Head Improves Your Shopping Karma Before Fashion Week

Use Your Head on Mott Street is a recent addition to the charity-donating consignment bandwagon and it certainly doesn't skimp on ethos.  Not only does owner Jennifer Joyce give 100% of the proceeds to the SoHo Partnership (an organization that offers transitional work opportunities to the homeless), recipients of it's mission of goodwill actually work right outside their doors- i.e. two members were employed to hand out flyers notifying passersby of the new store.   A full circle indeed.

While the stock inside runs the gamut from label-less pieces fairly priced below $100 to designer, unused wares, it's a hit and miss battle.

Hits on our recent visit included a pair of Ann Demeulemeester combat boots (Barneys tag still in tact) for $120.00, and an Ungaro floral cocktail dress that we are still dreaming about.

Lots of unused Rachel Roy (a regular donor) was interspersed and shoes from Lauren Hutton's (also a donor) personal collection are up for grabs.  Included amongst Hutton's sea of Manolos (apparently she's a fan) were a pair of acid yellow, knee-high, lace up sneaker boots- we checked the sole and they appear never worn by Hutton.  Phew.

We were tipped off to the fact that a couture collector from Newport is downsizing her very sizable collection and the first shipment should hit the store sometime this month.  Likely it needs no mention but couture with moral benefits is nothing to scoff at.

Use Your Head is located at 262 Mott Street between Houston and Prince
