YSL Documentary, "L'Amour Fou" Will Arrive Stateside in 2011

design boom

Extending far beyond costume design, fashion's latest role in film has included a slew of documentaries on industry names. Up next, the legendary Yves Saint Laurent's L'Amour Fou, out next year.

IFC Films acquired the documentary of YSL's life, which chronicles both his ascent as a designer, as well as his longtime relationship with partner Pierre Berge. The film, replete with rare footage and interviews, also focuses on Berge's eventual decision to auction his and Saint Laurent's famously massive art collection following the designer's death in 2008.

The trailer (below) shows snippets of the designer's second runway show and early media interviews—a glimpse that has us yearning for more. It's not even 2011 yet, and the film's already at the top of our must-watch list.
