We're Loving: Nicholas Kirkwood's Boots for Erdem

Nicholas Kirkwood has made a name for himself as the quintessential runway shoemaker -- and luckily for us, the watercolor combat boots he created for Erdem's runway show will actually be available in stores.

Kirkwood's spectacular heels have become stuff of legend among fashion week attendees, with his most noteworthy creations appearing on Rodarte's runways -- from the thigh-high bondage heels he created for Fall 2009 to the most recent patchwork-material sandals on the label's Spring 2010 catwalk. As spectacular and over-the-top as his piece may seem, it can't be denied that his shoes really do manage to match the collections for which they're commissioned, and one such note-worthy example are these eye-catching, multi-colored combat-inspired heels that Kirkwood designed for the Erdem runway.

We love the juxtaposition of tough and feminine, and we're impressed that these -- unlike some of Kirkwood's other fantasy shoes -- actually seem wearable. And as Style File reports, they'll actually be made available for retail, making the boots only the second Kirkwood runway collaboration (after Rodarte's lines) to be buyer-friendly.
