We're Loving: Janine Basil's Comic Book Inspired Headbands

The headband trend hit something of a saturation point this year when mega-chains like Urban Outfitters and J Crew started carrying feathery, beaded versions in their stores. Now, designer Janine Basil has injected new life into the trend with her kitschy-cool comic book headbands.

Channel your inner Wonder Woman with one of Basil's thought bubble chapeaus, embroidered with text like "I hope Brad will understand," or the onomatopoeia-inspired "Pow!" and "Bam!" editions. Each piece is handmade by the designer, and often covered in rhinestones, feathers, and recycled accents like vintage lace or paper flowers.  We especially love Basil's bejeweled "Say Whaaaat" cap, featuring only the punctuation "!?" in silver and black rhinestones.

They might not be something to throw on with your cut-offs, but we think Basil's quirky accessories are perfect for adding humor and DIY style to a little black cocktail dress for an evening out with friends.

Shop the complete collection at Janine Basil's Etsy shop, Handmade Retro.
