Vintage Closings Continue to Rack Up

As one of the industry's most vulnerable sectors, vintage has had a hard time lately. This week alone, both Marmalade Vintage and Beauty Crisis have announced their respective closings.

In what seemed like just hours after the news that Marmalade would vacate its Ludlow shop, nearby Beauty Crisis announced that they, too, would have to shutter.  Beauty Crisis owner Eva Weiss provided an illuminating (and very gracious) explanation to Racked, citing the evolution of the vintage marketplace now included independent sellers nationwide, which at once made for an exciting expanded selection and a more difficult environment for small NYC shops such as hers to survive.

Fortunately, Marmalade won't be disappearing from the Ludlow scene completely -- the boutique will now inhabit a special space within long-standing area shop TG 170.
