MAC's decision to pair Lady Gaga with Cyndi Lauper for the brand's Viva Glam campaign is pure genius, as evidenced by the visual explosion the duo produced at a recent promotional event in London.
Frankly, the whole affair has led us to create a new category -- in addition to um, no and high fives -- called "um, whoa." As in, Lady Gaga decided to wear a lace bodysuit and Carnivale-esque feathered headdress; Cyndi Lauper countered with Alexander McQueen's "flesh lace' leggings (apparently she's been wearing McQueen leggings of late), complimented by frizzy blond hair teased into its own headdress. This goes way beyond simple red carpet style. Clearly, all one needs to do is wind these ladies up, point them in the direction of a press event, and go.
