Uggs Are Coming to the Upper East Side

Last week WWD reported that UGG, the Australian brand synonymous with those ubiquitous shearling boots, has set its sights on the Upper East Side, with a flagship to open on Madison Avenue sometime this fall.

We recently learned that indeed, the new store location at 600 Madison Avenue will open on October 28, and while we hope to see more high-end designer collaborations in the brand's near future, the new location won't just be selling boots. Come mid-September, UGG will debut a collection of cable-knit sweaters for men and women, available not online and at retail and specialty stores.

Featuring timeless styles like a classic grandfather cardigan, with its thick woolen collar and leather-patched elbows, the collection reminds us of brisk fall days up in the countryside. If the sweaters prove to be as popular as the boots, then Madison Avenue might start to look a little more like Mr. Roger's neighborhood.
