Today: Bloomingdale's Tests a New Concept

Hold onto your credit cards, Potomac Mills, Virginia.

WWD reports that Bloomingale's test outlet concept, Bloomingdale's Outlet, opened today in Woodbridge.

According to Arnold Orlick, senior vice president in charge of outlets, “The lion’s share of the goods are 40 to 60 percent off, though discounts can be as much as 80 percent."

Bergen Town Center in Paramus, N.J. is slated for August 27th, with Florida locations in Miami (Dolphin Outlet Center) and Sunrise (Sawgrass Mills) to follow in October and November.

Obviously, interbrand competition is a factor in the smaller city location plan: While excess goods from vendors including Tory Burch, Josheph Abboud, and Burberry comprise 60 to 70 percent of the merchandise, and 10 to 20 percent is manufactured specifically for the outlets, roughly 20 percent of sale items will be sourced from regular store clearance.
