The Outnet Celebrates First Birthday with $1 Designer Sale

We plan on enlisting the several friends to try to nab stuff during the unbelievable $1 sale on the Outnet April 16.

Net-a-Porter's discount offshoot, the Outnet, was a welcome addition to the e-commerce scene when it first arrived last year, and it's matured to embrace Gilt-inspired flash sales and some truly spectacular stock (including, most recently, Christian Louboutin and Alexander McQueen).  Now, to celebrate the Big One, the site is sending a pretty dominating message to the increasingly saturated online discount designer arena with quite the shopping coup: A one-dollar-for-designer sale.  It's the first time we can use our favorite ridiculous rationale to buy stuff and also be somewhat accurate: it really will be practically free.

We'll likely start exercising our keyboard-and-mouse skills now, because with markdowns this deep, the competition for finds is likely to be a doozy.
