Talk about ending—and starting—a year with a bang. Of course when Pirelli enlisted Karl Lagerfeld to photograph the 47th edition of its calendar, the Italian company probably knew that's exactly the kind of result they'd get. For anyone who's not familiar with Pirelli, the company specializes in rubber production, specifically tires, however its annual calendar featuring plenty of bella donnas has earned an international cult following of its own—much like the Michelin-starred restaurant ratings have little to do with its American tire company nowadays.
Shot in Lagerfeld's Paris studio, the calendar features Erin Wasson, Daria Warbowy, Elisa Sednaoui, Julianne Moore and others as they channel various Greek and Roman goddess-warriors. There's even a male model—a first for the calendar, though not at all surprising for Karl Lagerfeld, who blazes trails at just about everything he does.
