Rising star Suzanne Rae hosted an evening of cupcakes and shopping at Steven Alan's Tribeca flagship last night, where guests were invited to peruse samples from her fall and upcoming spring collections, both of which looked right at home nestled between racks of cult favorites like Isabel Marant and Vince.
Trunk shows offer a unique opportunity to dig into a collection before it hits stores, and we were delighted to find that the silky chartreuse shorts from Rae's fashion week presentation were indeed to-die-for. Or that her ruffle-print sundresses were precisely as frothy and fun as we remembered them on the models.
Even with fashion week just around the corner, the designer appeared utterly poised, wearing a nubby wool jacket and high-waisted chinos. How's the soon-to-debut Fall 2011 collection going? Rae smiled and said, "Everything for Fall is going really well."
