Store Opening: Saffron Brooklyn

Lovers of vintage and freshly cut flowers would be well advised to bring their hunt to Fort Greene, home to newly opened boutique-cum-flower-shop, Saffron, at 31 Hanson Place.

Owners Mihoko Togashi and daughter Kana--who live just steps around the corner on St. Felix--converted an old Caribbean eatery into a bright, brick-walled boutique that leaves no trace of its jerk chicken history.  Here diligent shoppers will find 90's-era Pendleton, Fox Snapp, Lanvin and even YSL on the racks alongside Togashi-made kimonos ... and, charmingly, bunches of daisies. We anticipate their wide assortment of vintage men's ties proving an invaluable resource for last-minute Christmas shopping.

Saffron honors the neighborhood and its "for artists, by artists" credo with a rotating selection of local Brooklyn artwork (check out family-friend Fumihiro Matsuzaki, on display through November). Local artists are encouraged to get in touch at contact@saffron-brooklyn.com. For directions and updates, visit www.saffron.com.

Saffron is located at 31 Hanson Place in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.
