Store Opening: Petit Boudoir in Greenpoint

Not a week goes by without news of some yummy new boutique setting up shop in Greenpoint.  Today, we found yet another reason to love this stylish Brooklyn 'hood: Petit Boudoir. It's a spankin' new clothing and home goods store that peddles choice vintage pieces alongside gorgeous indie jewelry, and homemade bath products.

Newlyweds Mike Hewitt and Marietta Alonzo-Hewitt amassed an epic collection of vintage wares on buying trips around the globe. Though they stock the racks at Petit Boudoir rather prudently (there's only room for two hanging racks; heaps of merchandise was waiting to be priced), what the floor lacks in quantity is made up for in quality.

During our visit, we spied a fabulous cableknit sailor sweater with a big red anchor, an army-green pleated skirt in heavy twill, and a handfull of silky-soft blouses that are screaming to be worn with high-waist shorts.

Better still are the antique jewelry cases stocked with pieces by designer Rebecca Norman and BK-based Kate Cloughton, whose chunky beaded bracelets are examples of boho flair. Petit Boudoir is also one of few NYC locations to carry sunglasses by KBL, a high-design (but reasonably priced) collection of vintage-inspired acetate frames.

Take a peek. Petit Boudoir, 135 Franklin Street (between Java and Kent).
