Sarah Burton to be Named Creative Director at Alexander McQueen

The head of design for women’s wear at Alexander McQueen, Sarah Burton, has been named the label's new creative director, WWD reports.

Burton, who completed McQueen's final collection after his suicide in February, will now supervise the creative direction and development of all the collections under his name, and vows to "stay true to his legacy."

Burton was named head of design for women’s wear at the label in 2000, and had been working with McQueen since 1996. She graduated from London’s Central Saint Martins college in 1997.
