GQ Magazine announced the six finalists in their 2010 Best New Menswear Designers competition, with Richard Chai (pictured: a runway look from his Spring 2010 collection), Billy Reid and J. Crew menswear designer Frank Muytjens leading the pack towards one handsome reward. The winner will be announced on the eve of Fashion Week, February 11.
The nominees for GQ's prize, Burkman Bros' Doug and Ben Burkman, Richard Chai, Vincent Flumiani of Caulfield Prepatory, J. Crew's menswer designer Frank Muytjens, Billy Reid, and Unis' Eunice Lee, have been shortlisted for the annual prize, which includes a $50,000 cash reward, a September editorial in the magazine, mentoring by a GQ editor and a limited editor collection for Levi's at Bloomingdale's this fall.
The front-runner will be announced on February 11, just as fashion week kicks off, so the drama will undoubtedly run high inside their respective studios for the next couple of weeks.
